Mona Ardeleanu creates imaginative objects, in the case of the works exhibited here with ornamental floral decorations that evoke familiar associations in the viewer, but are free inventions of the artist. These are composed of various painted elements such as folded textiles.

The works of Christian Awe are defined by color, radiance, and intensity. Color for the artist is life energy and passion. His paintings embody freedom, power, and love – emotions that are expressed sometimes explosively and sometimes in delicate nuances of color.

The works of Keiran Brennan Hinton appear like snapshots from everyday life. In this intimate everyday documentation, the Canadian artist captures moments from his immediate surroundings. While working on the flower depictions, Stephen Bron was particularly drawn to their symbolic meaning, which gives the paintings a second, more hidden dimension. In addition, they represent a kind of love story between the artist and his partner, which is illustrated by the touch between the hands and the fragile flowers.

The atmospheric works of Rudy Cremonini, which are located between figuration and abstraction, are created intuitively and without prior sketches directly on the canvas. Delicately, Rudy Cremonini's flower vases stand out against the flat backgrounds. The subtle interplay of similar hues creates an atmosphere in which the flowers almost seem to float. This mysterious and unfathomable atmosphere lends ambiguity to the works.

Rainer Fetting is one of the protagonists of the Berlin group of artists known as the "Junge Wilden", who at the end of the 1970s and beginning of the 1980s consciously turned to figurative, expressive, and color-intensive painting and thus opposed the abstract and conceptual tendencies prevailing in art at the time. Among other things, Fetting's art was influenced by his encounters with the works of various artists of the New York School. Fetting also makes use of artistic principles such as Jackson Pollock's famous color drippings for his expressive treatment of figurative motifs, as in his sunflowers here.

With his two flower paintings, Ruprecht von Kaufmann ties directly into the tradition of classical still life. Already the titles, " Vanitas Stillleben" and " Niederländisches Stillleben" indicate this claim. The traditional pictorial motifs are broken up by carvings in the colored linoleum that Ruprecht von Kaufmann has been using as a painting ground for several years.

The sunflowers of Yongchul Kim seem to be in a state between being and decay. Expressive brushstrokes and high-contrast coloring create a time-lapse between growth and decay referencing transience.

The paintings by Jochen Mühlenbrink, which we show in "Flowers," appear as if painted with a finger on a fogged-up window. This creates an illusion of three-dimensionality, in which one can only guess what is hidden behind the fictitious glass based on the colors and seemingly transparent areas.

In the new series "Roses", Jan De Vliegher was interested in capturing the incredible richness of color and variety of pink tones of many roses and depicting the play of light and shadow, especially the backlight of the evening sun. Of his rose depictions, Jan De Vliegher says, "Every rose is like a portrait but then many times more subtle, layered, and complex. It’s all very lively."
