From 13th January to 11th February 2023, we presents eight artists in the group exhibition "Intimacy". The focus of the exhibition is on the painterly depiction of closeness and intimacy. In different ways, the artists provide insight into private moments, relationships and everyday situations from their surroundings. The overarching theme of Queer Intimacy spans several decades and generations and reveals the importance of relationships and friendships in the everyday lives especially of queer people, their needs and longings.
Patrick Angus depicted the gay underground scene in New York in the 1980s through painting and drawing. Angus placed particular emphasis on the loneliness of homosexuals in this milieu and their longing for emotional, not just physical, closeness.

In Stephen Bron's works exhibited in "Intimacy", the people depicted lie, sit and move in brightly colored landscapes inspired by travels to the Black Forest and Joshua Tree National Park. The artist's focus during the creation of these paintings was particularly on color and form, which are intended to exert a harmonious and song-like effect on the viewer.

Whereas TM Davy's paintings in the past repeatedly showed motifs from the artist's immediate surroundings like friends, acquaintances and especially his partner Liam, in these new works he is heading into imaginative realities and the intimacy of inner fantasy. For "Intimacy" he created paintings of familiar moments, of kisses, embraces and a double portrait of lovers.

Rainer Fetting picked up on queer themes and the depiction of the male body at an early point. Although his works are not illustratively political, they can be seen politically, as Fetting repeatedly processes and questions social taboo topics and taboos in art in his works.
Rainer Fetting is currently featured in the group exhibition "Andere Bilder von Männern" at Hall Art Foundation, Schloss Derneburg, DE.

The series of "Weeds" exhibited here are diptychs in which the Polish artist Bartosz Kolata juxtaposes weeds to people. The humans depicted are based on images of queer people from the internet and representatively depict homosexual humans. Kolata draws a comparison to weeds, which are repeatedly removed when tending the garden, but which always grow back and blossom. The joy of life of the people shown - like the flowering plants - stands in stark contrast to the reality of life in the queer community, which is still confronted with prejudice and social exclusion, especially in the artist's home country.

In this exhibition, we also present the Israeli artist Navot Miller for the first time. In his paintings, the artist repeatedly explores intimate moments in everyday encounters. Although he paints figuratively, his pictures develop their effect particularly through colorful, high-contrast fields of color.

Logan T. Sibrel explores intimate moments at close proximity in the paintings in this exhibition. Despite the specific scenes, the people depicted remain largely unrecognizable, creating a tension between the feeling of closeness and the anonymity of the figures.
Recently, the book "Logan T. Sibrel. But I'm Different" was published by DCV.
