The paint, which Zachariasen applies to the canvas in numerous layers with a broad, dry brush in a glazing manner, brings out various zones of light on the painting surface. These can run horizontally, vertically or dynamically and are not purposeful, but create a spatial depth.

The works of Günter Zachariasen invite the viewer to think his way through the materiality and limitation of the paintings into a mind-expanding sphere, to let go of everyday life and thus open up to the essential. His paintings are the results of an inner state. The painting thus becomes a form of meditation, in which a place of serenity and silence opens up.
