Bastian Börsig. Art Karlsruhe Selection

Since last year we represent Bastian Börsig ( *1984 ) and planned on showing him this year for the first time in a one-artist-show at Art Karlsruhe. Bastian Börsig's works challenge the viewer to a new way of seeing. His works are about everyday objects, some of which he abstracts beyond recognition. Chairs, boxes, or figures that the artist captures in sketches mutate on the canvas into curved and overlapping areas of color.

In the midst of constant change, clearly recognizable objects can suddenly be spotted. The revelation of these everyday objects, which at first glance seem to exist almost apart from the surreal world Börsig has created, sets up a humorous punch line.

Börsig's dynamic brushstrokes keep the painting in motion and thus build up tension between the objects and their surroundings. The coexisting areas of color only partially reveal where Börsig took his inspiration from.
